The Day Jesus Got Mad

John 2

Water into wine

Verses 1 to 12 is the wonderful story of Jesus turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana in Galilee. Jesus took something of value, water, and turned it into something of greater value, wine. He performed a miracle.

Jesus continues to do this type of miracle every day in the lives of ordinary people: taking something of value and turning it in to greater value.

  • What are some traits about you that are valuable?
  • How can these experiences, learnings, skills, and availability be more useful to you, to others, to the world, and to God?

Pray to Jesus to turn your good into great; average into excellent; and mediocre into magnificent.

The day Jesus got mad

In verses 13 to 22, Jesus got angry. Anger is not necessarily a bad thing. Anger can lead us to fight for justice for the oppressed. Anger can also be destructive for us and for those around us. Anger is only one letter away from danger.

  • How do you deal with anger?
  • Does injustice in society lead you to actions that will make the world a better place?
  • Do small annoyances irk you and lead you to lash out against others?
  • Does your anger cause you to hurt those closest to you and yourself?

Pray to God for a healthy response to times when you get angry.
